Bright colors and outstanding brushwork. This is a true pieces of whimsical Japanese folk art. Shunga, literally “Images of Spring” is in a category by itself in the art world. Japanese folk art at its finest. Great piece for the collector of this genre of art. Vintage piece though likely post war. This piece is bright with bold, strong enamels and really stands out. There is a chip on the foot (see photos) but doesn’t compromise the cup itself. There are no cracks leading to or from the chip. There are no other chips or cracks on the piece.
