Description
Daishoji Imari Meiji Era Japanese Teacup Kutani MarkedI believe this to be from the mid 18th century per the marks on the bottom. Strong and thin, please see pictures with the light behind it to see it's translucentness. Japanese Imari was copied from Chinese Imari but has its own style.
This is paraphrased from an expert as she translated the marks and provided context:
Marked Kigyoku Hotei no’chin 奇玉 寶鼎 之珍. This mark was borrowed from the Chinese, as is the Imari Style. It's designated for the most exclusive collections of exotic jades, jewels and wares, for the designated Qing Emperor.
This is documented by Imari as a mark that was used only during the 18thC to early 19thC. This is Daishoji Imari indeed and the only Imari produced in the Kutani region.
This is in incredible condition with no chips or cracks. It was treasured by its former owner and kept in beautiful condition.
