    Description

An antique Japanese Imari Sobachoko or Soba Choko that measures 2.38" high by 3" in diameter across the rim.  Depicts two fishermen each wearing Mino (winter cape made of straw) and a hat pulling a boat out of the water back to shore.  The boat is partially hidden by a large wisteria tree and there is a castle in the background.  Interior rim is decorated in a key fret and the interior bottom has a stylized insect design.
A rare maker's flaw caused by some clay being fired into the glaze as seen at the bottom rim.  The condition is excellent as it looks like this cup was never used after all these many years.  Age is from the Edo era (1800-1850).
