    Description

This is a rare antique Japanese 21 pc set of demitasse coffee cups and saucers made of the very finest quality Eggshell Porcelain.  They are of the Meiji period or earlier, hand made, hand painted and hand gilded. There are 9 cup and saucer sets each handpainted with 9 different and matching scenes of Japanese family life eg: fishing, catching butterflies, boating, sailing etc. Each cup has an 8 scalloped base and very delicately gilded and shaped handles. Each piece has a monogram of capital W over D indicating that this set may have been made as a special order for a particular family. ( There are 3 extra saucers.)
20 pieces are in perfect immaculate condition with no flaws, no chips, no cracks, no repairs and no signs of wear. 1 cup has a small chip on one of the scallops forming the base.
Size: The cups are 2" across the mouth, 2 1/4" tall. The saucers are 4 1/2" in diameter and 1" deep. ( note: the saucers have no center circle/crease indicating their earlier age when it was the norm to pour the liquid into the saucer to cool it and then sip it daintily from the saucer)
Shipping: All special items are triple wrapped, double boxed, tracked and insured for delivery to you.
